A characteristic acidic mustard yellow and lime green group of prismatic and botryoidal Pyromorphite crystals nestle in a shallow vug of crystallised snow white milky Quartz. This aesthetic miniature is from Asprières in the Occitanie Region of France, a locality with over forty recorded species, although Pyromorphite is probably its most well-known. There are clearly two generations of Pyromorphite; the first forming the lime green prismatic crystals, followed by a deposition of cockscomb arrays of yellow Pyromorphite which overgrow the former, so producing a botryoidal habit. It’s a terrific example and beautifully coloured Pyromorphite from Asprières.
