This out of the ordinary specimen from the Zinc Corporation mine at Broken Hill, Australia, features both pink Manganoan Calcite in large flattened crystals and milky-Calcite occurring as stubby nail-head hexagonal crystals.  The Manganoan Calcite lies flat against the carbonate matrix, forming crystals to 5 cm which taper outwards towards their terminations.  These are a delicate yet distinct blush-pink and display sinusoidal banding.  The nail-head crystals are lightly dusted with Pyrite micro-crystals whereas the flat Manganoan Calcite has a solid deposition of such Pyrite over their top surfaces.  An unorthodox yet attractive Calcite specimen from Broken Hill, Australia.
