Simply the mere mention of Ussel conjures images of wonderful Pyromorphite from the classic Les Farges mine. This small miniature Pyromorphite is labelled Champjourde, Ussel, France, so is assumed to be a Pyromorphite locality close to Les Farges, but likely not from it. Rich, acidic apple-green Pyromorphite crystals averaging 3 to 4 mm long form a chain of splayed rosettes across a light orange-cream and dark chocolate-brown limonite coated carbonate matrix. The Pyromorphite crystals taper slightly towards their flat pinacoid terminations and typically grade to a lighter, more translucent, apple-green nearing the termination. An eye-catchingly coloured Pyromorphite from Ussel in France.
