Pyromorphite

ID: CC11973
Lustrous, light, oily-pistachio green, curved barrel-shaped crystals of Pyromorphite form a rich, 2 cm thick crust on a small rusty-tan Quartz matrix from Pontgibaud in the Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region of France.  This is clearly an old-time specimen because  part of an old Victorian-style label remains adhered to the matrix.  The Pyromorphite grades to a deeper leafy-green towards the matrix and over the surface crystal are formed to about 7 mm long.  A terrific small Pyromorphite from this rare locality in France.
