A well-formed tightly clustered group Schneiderhöhnite crystals with excellent terminations of a lustrous black to brown colour and measuring to 1.4 cm.  This ex. matrix micro-mount (small thumbnail) specimen is from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia, the type locality for Schneiderhöhnite.  The specimen displays excellent crystals, each with faces with a play of iridescent peacock colours of metallic green, yellow, blue, pink and purple.  Schneiderhöhnite, an iron arsenite, is a very rare mineral at Tsumeb and was discovered on 29 Level in the central section of the 2nd Oxidation Zone.  Arsenites are rare at Tsumeb and their intermediate As(III) oxidation state suggests they were deposited under reducing conditions.  This excellent specimen comes in a foam-padded round Perspex gem case for protection.
