A superb bubble-gum-pink specimen of mammillary Rhodochrosite from the Oppu mine in Aomori Prefecture, Honshu Island, Japan.  This mine was first worked for silver but has become famous for Rhodochrosite specimens such as this.  Satin-lustre druses of glassy bright pink Rhodochrosite coat a mounded matrix of white chalky Calcite with a little Pyrite. The base is covered with pale, near-flesh-pink mammillary Rhodochrosite. A great display specimen of Rhodochrosite from this classic Japanese mine.
