A 1 cm thick shard of milky-Quartz has its top surface smothered with 1 to 2 mm diameter spheres of Vanadinite crystals, from the Wanlockhead mining district in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The spheres have a tan to flesh-pink thin outer shell, but where broken open reveal a mild creamy-lemon crystal structure. This is a rich specimen of Vanadinite from Wanlockhead and has an estimated 80 to 100 such spheres covering the display face.
