A wonderful single terminated crystal of Ferberite from Vereinigt Feld in Zinnwald in the Erzgebirge / Krusné Hory Mountains of Germany & the Czech Republic. Both Erzgebirge and Krusné Hory, in German and Czech respectively, mean “Ore Mountains” and form part of the common border between the two countries.  The crystal measures 8.7 x 6.0 x 4.6 cm and is a solid black metallic crystal of Ferberite, free of any matrix.  Ferberite, an iron tungstate, is the iron-rich end member of the Hübnerite-Ferberite series, and a Wolframite Group member. A small chip mid-way along the horizontal top edge is the only damage visible and this is minor.  A superb Ferberite from Vereinigt Feld in the Czech Republic.
