Although Baryte occurs throughout many of the mines at Broken Hill, it is not commonly seen in collections and well crystallised specimens tend to be rare.  This specimen comprises of five individual tabular Baryte blades on a creamy, very pale salmon Calcite matrix.  The largest blades are about 1.4 x 1.0 x 0.3 cm and all display pale duck-egg blue centres with amber-yellow edges.  The specimen is mounted vertically on a small clear acrylic base.
