Hedenbergite

ID: CC12608
Hedenbergite is a relatively rare monoclinic calcium-iron silicate and is a well-known mineral from the Broken Hill mining district in New South Wales, Australia.  This large thumbnail is a splendid, well-crystallised example of the species, forming glassy blueish sage-green pseudo-rhombohedral crystals with complex modifications, covering a matrix of massive pale cream-green Hendenbergite.
