The engine house at Tincroft mine stands adjacent to the Penzance-Plymouth railway line in Illogan, a district which extends out between Camborne and Redruth. Although a copper mine, Tincroft is most well-known by collectors for it excellent Siderite, which never fails to please due to its variability and superb crystallisation. This gorgeous large miniature is a real beauty, whose central core of crystallised Quartz is almost entirely covered with beautiful Siderite crystals ranging from translucent clove brown to gemmy golden syrup. The trigonal crystals form perfect triangular surfaces all over the specimen and it is accompanied by an old handwritten label.
