Think Pallaflat mine, think Calcite!  During Victorian and Edwardian times, the iron mines of West Cumbria produced fabulous specimens of Calcite and these are now highly prized.  This excellent, ex-matrix scalenohedral crystal is from the famous Pallaflat mine by the village of Bigrigg and superbly exhibits its complex, multi-faced termination which extends for 5 cm of its length.  A semi-transparent crystal, with a patchwork of interwoven internal planes that reflect light throughout the crystal’s fabric.  A great West Cumbrian Calcite at a great and very reasonable price.
