Intergrown crystalline Cuprite crystals form a sponge-like porous specimen from Marke Valley mine close to Upton Cross, Linkinhorne, Cornwall. This specimen is very typical of the Cuprite associated with this locality in that it has a characteristic deep blood-red cast to many of its individual crystals, which stand out from the overall slivery-gunmetal and highly reflective metallic lustre. Crystals are typically 1 mm and octahedral, but also form larger stacked octahedral crystals to a few mm. A great Marke Valley mine Cuprite.
