This interesting specimen of sharp cubic Galena crystals richly covering a bed of colourless Fluorite crystals is known to be from the county of Derbyshire in central England, but its specific locality is unknown. The Galena cubes range between 2 and 8 mm on edge and are often slightly elongated. The transparent and colourless Fluorite cubic crystals adopt a light grey to milky colour due to the underlying matrix and are typical for many locations in Derbyshire, especially in the Ashover-Matlock area. Galena is rarely found well crystallised in Derbyshire, so these beautifully developed and slightly etched crystals are an interesting addition to any suit of Derbyshire material.
