An off-matrix, single crystal of golden-honey Baryte from Mowbray mine, just south of Frizington in Cumbria. This thick, chunky crystal is translucent throughout and looks beautiful, especially when back-lit. The crystal contains typical crossed-diagonal cleavage planes and displays very glassy and lustrous faces whose terminations change to translucent pale yellow-cream tips. A very old, barely legible label attached to the crystal reads “Barytes, Cumberland, England”.
