Olivenite with Quartz

Although fascinating and typically Cornish, this intensely dark green (almost black) Olivenite with Quartz is what I term an ugly beauty.  Admittedly lacking in the aesthetic, but somehow compelling for the juxtaposition of micro-crystallised Olivenite with two equant glassy Quartz crystals.  From the world-famous Wheal Unity mine which worked the same lode as Wheal Gorland.  The Quartz is so characteristic of these mines in that only the six termination faces exist without any prism faces.  An excellent specimen with a great coverage of Olivenite, attractively punctuated by the Quartz.  The specimen comes with an Arnold Fisher label, a fondly remembered dealer who specialised in Cornish minerals.
