The lead-silver-antimony sulphosalt mineral, Andorite, is seldom seen in collections and this fine specimen is from the San José Mine close to Oruro City, Oruro Department in Bolivia.  A single, roughly 4.5 x 2.2 cm, flattened bright gunmetal-grey crystal has deeply furrowed striations parallel with the c-axis (long direction).  Each side is covered with smaller crystals of Andorite, many up to or exceeding 1 cm long, which have developed generally aligned to the c-axis, but normal (i.e. at 90 degrees) to the main crystal face.  The overall effect is that of a section of coarse wire rope or sets of intermeshing turbine blades.  A great example of this relatively rare species.
