An excellent example of pink Alstonite from the Brownley Hill mine at Nenthead, Alston Moor, Cumbria, England, collected by Dr David Green in 1991. Brownley Hill mine is the co-type locality for Alstonite, a rare barium carbonate which in this miniature forms tiny yet well-developed scalenohedral crystals to about 5 mm tall, richly covering the specimen. Probably 90% of these crystals are pale light coral pink and despite their subtly of colour, are actually a vivid pink for this type of Alstonite. It is a superb example of pink Alstonite from Brownley Hill mine and is accompanied with David I. Green and Patricia Greenbank labels. The latter notes “from Northern heading, sub-level, 7 m below Level Holmes rise on High Cross Vein, Brownley Hill Mine, Nenthead. Collected 1991 by D.I. Green”.
