A solid bed of massive Chalcocite is entirely covered across its top surface with intergrown bladed Chalcocite crystals, each of between 1 to 4 mm.  This small miniature is from the Levant mine close to St. Just in Cornwall, a tin mine which extended out beneath the Atlantic Ocean.  The Chalcocite forms dark grey metallic crystals with a bright and sparkling lustre.
