Silverband mine was exploited for Baryte and quickly became famous amongst collectors for its magnificent and large Baryte crystals.  This fine specimen is a good example of the long tabular crystal habit with a sharp, bevelled chisel termination.  The crystal  is translucent smoky-grey with patchy colourless zones and areas of surface iridescence.  At one side, two prism faces are naturally etched from about mid-way down to the base.
