Creamy-white lath-like crystals in parallel growth of the rare lead oxychloride Mendipite are embedded in a matrix of cream Calcite and manganese stained limestone. The largest patch of Mendipite measures roughly 5 x 2 cm. The Mendipite fluoresces bright deep-lemon yellow in LWUV, pale lemon in SWUV and the Calcite a strong orangish-red in SWUV. A nice example of Mendipite from Torr Works quarry, 20 miles from its type locality at Churchill in Somerset.
