An infrequently seen Baryte from the mines at Wanlockhead in Dumfriesshire (now Dumfries and Galloway), Scotland. A core of small but well crystallised Quartz crystals is half coated with pure snowy-white Baryte crystals, each typically to about 5 mm long. A little pinkish-cream Calcite is also present. A really nice example of well crystallised Baryte from Wanlockhead. An attached paper label records the specimen having been collected in 1926 by W.M. (an unknown collector), plus more specific locality information “50 FMS. W.B. of NGV”.
