Bournonite with Quartz

ID: CC13311
A first-class specimen of classic ‘cog-wheel’ ore, the lead-copper antimoniate, Bournonite, from Herodsfoot mine at Lanreath in Cornwall, England.  This small cabinet specimen packs a terrific punch with an upper surface covered in roughly equal measures of well crystallised Bournonite and sharply terminated milky-Quartz crystals of about 3 to 4 mm tall.  The silver-lead-grey Bournonite forms classic ‘cog-wheels’ across the specimen and amongst the drusy Quartz, as chains up to 3 cm long.  This stunning specimen comes with three old labels, one a nice old Dr A. Krantz of Bonn.  A splendid Herodsfoot Bournonite that will look good in any collection.
