Tourmaline

ID: CC13355
A beautifully developed prismatic Tourmaline crystal, 6.7 cm long with a 3.3 x 1.9 cm crystal attached sub-parallel to its axis above the base.  From the classic Himalaya mine in the Mesa Grande District of California, USA, each crystal grades from deep to mid-olive-green with a pale bubblegum-pink upper zone and sub-millimetre olive-green pinacoid. The pinacoid of the main crystal is almost mirror smooth but with a slightly frosted surface.  Please note that the edges around the pinacoid are slightly chipped, but almost at the micro-scale.  A splendid, part gemmy Tourmaline from California.
