Malachite
ID: CC13424
A remarkably good Malachite from Greystone quarry at Lezant in the Callington District of Cornwall, England. This quarry is frequently misquoted amongst collectors as “Greystones”. Botryoidal mounds, to over 5 mm in diameter, of fibrous Malachite form a thick drusy crust over a bed of terminated, but hidden, clear, colourless Quartz crystals. The Malachite varies in colour from mid-leaf-green to a silvery peppermint green, often governed by the play of light across the lustrous silk-like texture. Where mounds and ribbons are profiled in cross-section, their acicular fibrous and, often, radial structure is revealed. A very fine Greystone quarry Malachite.
