Galena with Sphalerite

ID: CC13480
An impressive cabinet specimen of beautifully crystallised Galena with gemmy golden yellow Sphalerite (variety Honey Blend), creamy white Dolomite crystals and clusters of Pyrite micro-crystals.  From the famous recovery operation undertaken by Richard Barstow in the late 1970s, this specimen comes with one of his green stock labels.  The Galena forms excellent cuboctahedral crystals to 1.5 cm across and one, predominantly cubic crystal, 2.2 cm on edge.  The Galena from this historic find is famous for its mirror-bright lustre and such specimens are seldom seen these days.  There is an excellent account of how Dick Barstow discovered and purchased this famous suite of specimens in issue No. 31, 2010 of the UK Journal of Mines and Minerals.
