Cronstedtite, a complex iron silicate, is one of the classic minerals forever associated with Wheal Jane at Baldhu, between Redruth and the city of Truro in Cornwall.  The Cronstedtite forms triangular crystals, 1 to 2 mm across, jet-black with a bright reflective lustre, richly covering a 5 x 1.5 cm surface of grey Killas matrix.  Tiny deep tan Siderite crystals, as botryoidal mounds, are also present.  A fine and rich example of Cronstedtite from Wheal Jane.
