Greystone Quarry, more usually called Greystones quarry by collectors, is situated a little to the south-east of the Cornish town of Launceston and continues to extract roadstone to this day. The quarry crosses several mineralised lodes which in the past were worked by mines that included Greystone silver lead mine, Wheal Sophia and North Tamar. This rich specimen of deep leaf to light peppermint-green Malachite is a rare item from this well known locality and will make an excellent addition for anyone building a suite from here. Although 62 minerals are known from Greystone, they are not easy to find on the market. The Malachite forms as a fragmented blocky-crust overlain by velvety druses on a limonitic rich matrix. A rich specimen of Malachite for this locality.
