Chalcophyllite

ID: CC13666
Platy hexagonal crystals of greenish-turquoise Chalcophyllite form rich druses within shallow vugs in a grey Quartz veinstone mixed with metallic sulphides and/or oxides.  The Chalcophyllite crystals are sharply formed and their opaque turquoise colour suggests the specimen is partially dehydrated.  A fine Chalcophyllite from the St. Day United mines in and around St. Day in Gwennap parish, Cornwall, the type locality for Chalcophyllite.
