Crisp pseudomorphs of Pyrite after Pyrrhotite, recovered during the modern era of Cornish mining during the 1970s and early 1980s when the ancient Wheal Jane mine, near to the city of Truro, was reopened.  Well defined platy Pyrrhotite crystals replaced with greyish-golden Pyrite sit on a bed of milky Quartz, forming needle-like crystals.  This fine specimen on a matrix of typical, run-of-mine ore, was collected from Moor Lode on 7 Level in Wheal Jane.  This specimen is accompanied with a coveted white R.W. Barstow Collection label, the famous dealer and collector, most frequently associated with the mines and minerals of Cornwall and Devon.
