Hematite Var. Specularite with Quartz
ID:
CC13916
Stubby, colourless to slightly smoky-grey Quartz crystals densely coat a 2 cm thick matrix of granular Hematite. The Quartz crystals are well developed, typically to between 0.8 and 1.4 cm across, and occasionally double terminated. Between many of these, swaths of jet black blades of Specular Hematite with a very high lustre punctuate the display surface. A very fine Specular Hematite with Quartz from Florence mine close to Egremont in West Cumbria. Ex. Lindsay Greenback collection with his label.
