Over its short life, Tynagh mine was a prolific producer of beautifully crystallised specimens, but very few of these survived the crusher before collectors were aware of the situation.  The mine, at Killimor in County Galway, Ireland, closed in 1982 and specimens that now survive are greatly treasured by collectors.  This specimen of Cerussite is a very fine example of the variety termed Jackstraw Cerussite, being the intergrown acicular habit.  The creamy, tan-tinted crystals measure to 3.5 cm and form a highly porous framework with minor attached low grade pale olive-green Malachite and blebs of light blue Azurite.
