A historic and wonderful specimen of Baryte from the iron mines around Frizington in West Cumbria, complete with a very seldom seen George L. English (Philadelphia) label.  Beginning as a single crystal at its base, after 3.5 cm signs of bifurcation are present, and at 8.5 cm the crystal divides into two.  With no attached matrix, the two sub-parallel Baryte crystals are translucent smoky bluish-green with smooth, growth-development textured prism faces and good terminations.  This really is a superb example of an old time Baryte from the, then named, county of Cumberland.  The accompanying G.L. English label has at some time been folded into four, but the creases are now feint and save for these, the label is in beautiful, like-new, condition.  It is printed along with the specimen details written in the most beautiful crisp, precise and elegant handwriting.
