The recovery of Fluorite specimens at Rogerley was begun in the early 1970’s by Lindsay Greenbank and Michael Sutcliffe and continues to this day, operated by UK Mining Ventures.  Many of you will remember the superb Mineralogical Record supplement on Lindsay Greenbank’s collection of Northern England Minerals, unbelievably now almost twelve years ago!  This beautiful green Fluorite with many Galena crystals is accompanied by a Lindsay Greenbank label, numbered G10.  Almost all the Fluorite crystals covering this specimen are interpenetrant twins, including the smallest cubes which often crystallise as single prisms.  The largest pair measure to 2.5 cm across and the entire display surface is covered with a good mix of individual large twins scattered amongst the much smaller crystals.  The Fluorite is gemmy to semi-transparent, of stunning grassy emerald green and when held in direct daylight, the larger crystals naturally fluoresce bright green with intense indigo blue caps and faces.  Under LWUV the entire array of Fluorite crystals fluoresce bright purple white with purple to lilac highlights.  A superb Rogerley mine Fluorite with tarnished lead grey Galena crystals.
