Native Copper

ID: CC14204
Sub-parallel arborescent fronds and linked equant crystals of Native Copper form a thick elongated off-matrix specimen from the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine at Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia.  The Native Copper forms a variety of crystal habits, most of which have a thin film of a velvety peppermint-green copper secondary mineral, most probably Malachite.  In parts where this coating has not developed, reddish-bronze coloured Native Copper can be seen.  A great solid and chunky Native Copper from Broken Hill, Australia.
