Silky, dog-tooth-type crystals of creamy-white Smithsonite cover a small hidden matrix of black and brown Goethite from the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine in New South Wales, Australia. The specimen forms a flattened plate of excellent Smithsonite crystals of typically 5 to 7 mm, but occasionally to around 1.5 cm long. The Smithsonite has a waxy appearance and takes the habit of small scalenohedral crystals.
