Fizélyite is an extremely rare silver-lead-antimony sulphosalt which we hardly ever see in the collections we acquire. This this fine small cabinet specimen is from its type locality at Herja Mine at Baia Mare in Maramureș County, Romania. Large metallic black platy crystals form layers attached to a light greenish-grey, finely granular matrix. The layers stack to form contoured hillocks and rills across the display surface, giving a most unusual ribbed and rippled habit, quite different to almost any other mineral species. Overall, the surface is a matt sooty light grey, punctuated by bright metallic fresh exposures of Fizélyite.
