Argyrodite is an uncommon silver-germanium sulphide (Ag8GeS6) and this excellent specimen is from its type locality at Himmelsfürst mine in the Freiberg District of Saxony, Germany.  This small miniature is mounted vertically on a clear, colourless acrylic base, displaying botryoidal clusters of lead-grey Argyrodite crystals.  The crystal form and quality is typical of the specimens mined in the late 1800s and most likely dates from this period. The concave underside partly mimics the botryoidal contours of the display surface and is invested with tiny amounts of dull golden Pyrite.  An excellent example of the very rare mineral Argyrodite.
