This really is a museum quality Zircon from the nepheline syenite pegmatites in the southern part of the Seiland Island, Finnmark, Norway; a locality close to the very northern tip of Norway. The pegmatites host over twenty mineral species with Zircon being probably its most famous, simply because of the high quality of crystals. The root beer coloured 2.0 x 1.5 x 1.2 cm Zircon crystal flashes fiery internal reflections and protrudes to great advantage from a coarsely crystallised black Biotite and white Feldspar matrix. The Zircon displays multiple, undamaged faces and a shallow translucency grading to an opaque interior and a brilliant glassy lustre. The Zircon crystal displays perfectly, standing proud of the matrix and will look superb in any great mineral collection.
