A great specimen of particularly well-formed Pyrite crystals from the Huanzala mine in the Huánuco Department of Peru. Bright metallic pale golden striated cubic crystals of Pyrite measure to 2.2 cm forming a fine aesthetic cluster covering a matrix of mixed granular and crystalline Pyrite. The striated faces vary in amplitude from shallow to much deeper troughs, in some cases tending to form slightly curved surfaces to the cubes. We consider Pyrite to be such a common mineral, but when it forms a specimen such as this, it becomes elevated in stature and is able to hold its own against any other species. A delightful small cabinet Pyrite from the Huanzala mine.
