Quartz with Native Copper

ID: CC15319
The Tsumeb mine never fails to produce something a little different and this specimen of well crystallised Quartz with a spattering of Native Copper is yet another example.  The entire specimen is composed of intergrown semi-transparent, delicately tinted smoky Quartz crystals of between 6 and 9 mm long showing asymmetric development in some crystals.  The six faces of every termination are speckled with rosy-terracotta Native Copper as a very fine coating.  The effect and thickness is similar to a sputter-coated surface for EDAX analysis.  A terrific and unusual specimen from Tsumeb, both for the Quartz crystals and rare Copper coating.
