Schneiderhöhnite is one of Tsumeb’s extremely rare iron arsenates and forms small black lustrous crystals. It was first discovered on 29 Level in the Second Oxidation Zone and has since been found in supergene material. It is one of those elusive, must-have species from Tsumeb which dedicated collectors long to acquire and, if a little greedy like me, like to have a few of! This choice thumbnail has a cluster of at least 14 individual terminated crystals from, say, 3 mm to 9 mm, sitting on a tiny matrix of likely Chalcocite mixed with Tennantite ore. This excellent specimen is from a famous Tsumeb miniature and thumbnail collection and comes mounted on a labelled, small square acrylic base.
