Quartz on Malachite

Although being a very common mineral at Tsumeb, well crystallised Quartz is surprisingly scarce, and is often missing as part of the Tsumeb suite even in good collections.  This lovely large thumbnail has a core of leaf-green Malachite and pale tangerine, what is probably limonite.  This is entirely encrusted with 1 to 3 mm equant, translucent glassy Quartz crystals, which form an elongated dome of stalactitic habit.  This is a choice and most attractive example of nicely crystallised Quartz from Tsumeb, mounted on a clear acrylic base.
