Azurite

ID: CC15489
I want to say this Azurite from Tsumeb is simply crazy, but that seems such an inappropriate term for a specimen of such splendour and impact!  I first discovered Tsumeb back in 1986 and have remained a keen collector of this unique locality ever since but have never seen a specimen in any shape or form like this little beauty.  Sitting on a scant matrix of micro-crystallised granular creamy Dolomite, elegant, long, and slender Azurite blades form an asymmetric bowtie of splayed, sub-parallel crystals, all electric azure-blue and with a mirror-like glassy lustre.  Just take another glance at the photo to see how amazing this is!  The individual Azurite crystals are at least 3 cm long and many could be longer but remain partly hidden.  The crystals bend, forming nested catenary curves unlike any crystal I have seen, with a resultant beauty which is captivating.  I need say no more, this is a unique and extraordinary miniature Tsumeb Azurite.
