This Tsumeb mine small miniature is the tastiest of mineralogical morsels, one I could readily eat, albeit for it being hard, very crunchy, and arsenic-rich! It is a superb, delightful, and most pretty combination of beautifully crystallised Azurite with Malachite and Arsentsumebite covering a thick and chunky matrix of crystallised and densely compact Olivenite. A very choice matrix to say the least! The Azurite forms as bright electric azure-blue transparent crystals of 4 to 6 mm long scattered amongst a densely crystallised carpet of pseudo-hexagonal blueish-green Arsentsumebite. Arsentsumebite can adopt several habits and colours, this being a more uncharacteristic one. On the reverse side of the Olivenite core is a rich druse of micro-botryoidal bright apple-green Arsentsumebite, more typical of the species. The Olivenite core/matrix averages 1.5 cm thick and is composed of densely packed olive-green acicular crystals standing normal to the display faces. Malachite is present as light to mid green spherical clusters. A fabulous Tsumeb specimen.
