This fantastic thumbnail specimen of the rare iron-lead arsenite [As(III) oxidation state] Ludlockite is from the John Schneider Tsumeb Collection and is mounted on a small square acrylic base with his characteristic italicised attached species label.  Excellent dense sprays of rich deep reddish-apricot Ludlockite to over 1 cm are developed over a tiny dark grey to black sulphide matrix containing Chalcocite and Germanite with a little metallic iridescence.  Ludlockite was first discovered in the 2nd Oxidation Zone, probably on 30 Level and is also known from the supergene near-surface region and 3rd Oxidation Zone.  I have examined the specimen carefully at high magnification and cannot seen any zincian-Siderite between the fibrous Ludlockite, suggesting this is either supergene or from the 3rd Oxidation Zone.  A choice Ludlockite with excellent provenance.
