Willemite pseudomorph after Cerussite

ID: CC15614
A rare and fascinating specimen of Willemite, forming pseudomorphs after Cerussite and epimorphs and encrustations over Cerussite, from the Tsumeb mine.  These different replacements and habits cover both the back and front of the specimen, providing all-around interest.  The Willemite occurs as glassy micro-crystals which range from colourless through cream, pale lemon and pale peppermint-green. Both the remaining and pseudomorphed Cerussite crystals form V twins and stellate repeated twins which stand out against a contrasting layer of cream-tan to light biscuit micro-Willemite crystals. The specimen fluoresces dull biscuit-tan to burnt orange in SWUV and a uniform pale creamy-tan under LWUV.
