This small miniature of the very rare iron arsenate Schneiderhöhnite in a matrix of mixed Tennantite and Quartz is an exceptional specimen from its type locality at Tsumeb mine in Namibia.  Discovered in 1972, Schneiderhöhnite is one of the many very rare Tsumeb species Tsumeb collectors strive for and in this fine example, crystals to 1.9 cm form a fan-shaped aggregate laid flat and embedded across the dark gunmetal grey metallic matrix.  The Schneiderhöhnite is jet-black, highly lustrous and has an almost mica like appearance, although in long acicular type crystals.  No crystals are terminated.  This is a rich specimen and one which clearly displays the Schneiderhöhnite to full advantage.  It come with a previous German collector’s label.
