A most elegant and beautiful Azurite crystal from the famous Easter Pocket, discovered on 8 Level at Tsumeb in 1994.  Although Azurite is very common at Tsumeb, throughout the mine’s 100 years history only about six famous pockets were named and the Easter Pocket is perhaps the most well-known.  This ex-matrix crystal has an overall length of 3.5 cm, although due to its diagonal basal cleavage one side measures 2 cm; it is approximately 1.7 x 0.8 cm in cross-section .  Although appearing at first sight as a single crystal, it is built from several broad, similar size crystals in parallel growth.  All edges, prism faces and terminations are perfect and in transmitted light, turns the most exquisite, gemmy, deep electric-blue.  A true Tsumeb classic!
