Although Tsumeb mine is famous for its diversity of mineral species, its number of type localities and widespread aesthetics, one of its most classic species is one its most common, Azurite.  When Azurite crystals choose to develop beyond the average at Tsumeb they know no limit and can form the most wonderful specimens.  This superb small cabinet specimen comprises of three 8.8 cm long Azurite crystals intergrown in parallel with glassy Azurite terminations and flattened prisms partly pseudomorphing to deep emerald green Malachite.  One Azurite crystal is double terminated, giving the impression all three are, but a point of attachment is clearly apparent at one end.  The Azurite is opaque but where light can penetrate the thin edges, flashes of electric blue are emitted.  The Malachite forms a velvet-textured patchwork on opposite sides of the flattened prism faces formed from micro-acicular crystals.  This is a beautiful Azurite and Malachite specimen from Tsumeb and comes with a custom-made Sunnywood Collection milled-profile acrylic base with engraved plinth label.
